Well, it's nature. This planet would have exploded millions of years ago if there were no big earthquakes that release all that pressure from the plumes of heat from the interior of the Earth.
By the way, the Mag. 6.3 earthquake in Alaska hit near an active volcano - Redoubt!

There is now a higher chance again for more going on here in Southern California today - high chance for mag. 3+ So far at this point, there is a higher chance for magnitude 3 or larger earthquakes here in Southern California today and/or this week. As much as there may not be much going on here today, there could even be more magnitude 4+ EQs at least anyday now.
There is also still a high potential for more serious earthquake and volcanic activity in certain areas worldwide.

There is still a high chance for magnitude 3+ quakes in Southern California anyday or anytime now.
There is still a high potential for more serious earthquake and volcanic activity in parts of the world.
There may also be something going on in NW Nevada and Eastern Oregon in terms of seismic activity. A magnitude 4 or even 5 or larger in that area anyday or even anytime now isn't out of the question. Or there could be more magnitude 4+ quakes in the Cascadia region.
There still might be more magnitude 3 or even 4+ earthquakes here in Southern California and other parts of California.
