This song is not getting enough love and attention, it caught me off guard too because there were some people saying it was the weak point of the album. I totally disagree. Its damn good! I love the vibe of the song and Josh absolutely kills it with both guitar and backing vocals, they are heavenly. It has a bit of a hip hop sorta vibe but you have that essence of the Peppers very strong still throughout, especially with the flow of AK throughout the song. I think its underrated so far and its another song thats been well constructed in the DM process/ways of creation.
Plus it has massive meaning and context as its about Hillel. Man i'm so proud of this album so far, it will be interesting to see how people rate it amongst the other 10 in say 2-3 months time when we've all had a decent amount of time to let it sink in and settle.

I saw a few people who really loved it, and then a bunch who didn't give it any attention, seems to be a divisive song that way. Entirely agree that it's not a weak point, but gotta admit that is was so bold and new my brain was grappling at first to place it in an understandable spot in my mind, so I was mostly just unsure about what it was gonna be.
But that's a good thing, that they can create such a new abstract place with just one song, and it gets better for me every day I listen to it.

Yeah it was definitely a bold move to chuck it in or come up with something like this for a RHCP album. For me, i was into it straight away despite it not being like your traditional RHCP sounding song. Just a very catchy track, i'm always catching myself singing the chorus to this hahaha. I actually like the "beachy" sounding riff as well that is being played - someone described it as beachy somewhere and i think that suits pretty well. As i said as well, just another track where Joshy steps up too which makes me happy

The sound seems very new for the Chili Peppers. It took me a couple of listens to get into Flowers because the guitar just sounds like it's up to something and I love it now. Yeah bold is a good word to describe it. Also how it's, hmm, synchronized? At first sounds like it's going all over the place but there's some sort of chaotic order to it (? don't ask me, I've gone insane ). Everyone is equally strong and sometimes Anthony and Josh and take turns leading the song. I think this one is a prime example of good Anthony is at what he's doing now. THE NEXT DIMENSION SHOW ME IN Also, awesome awesome guitar riff.

Yeah you are right! One of those songs with many layers (at least it sounds like it has a lot going on in it) as its a Danger Mouse made/constructed song PS: I like your dreams of a samurai reference

The first thing I thought during the chorus was, wow Danger Mouse is really doing a fancy sound with them, and I'm not very familiar with his works actually haha. So is it actually the kind of sound he's known for? Hehe thanks, thanks for picking it up

So far I feel this is the biggest grower on the album, I really like it. Especially paying close attention to the lyrics and thinking of Hillel, they feel very honest and open.

^ Agree about it being a grower. More and more it sounds like a new era Chili Pepper song to me instead of just an exciting odd thing that sounds like nothing they did before.
