One Hot Minute has always been one of my all time favourite RHCP albums and it's always baffles me how the band seemingly disowned this record after its release by hardly playing any songs from this era live. I was pleasantly surprised to see the boys dust off Aeroplane recently live and it got me thinking, now that John is out of the band, maybe they could start to embrace this fine record again. Songs like My Friends, Coffee Shop, Transcending and Shallow Be Thy Name are crying out to be played live by the current lineup and would be a breath of fresh air in the set and a nice nod to the hardcore fans who stuck by the Chili's when they weren't at their most popular.

It's not hard to see why the band stopped playing those songs live, after John returning and the following three records being collosal successes compared to OHM which didn't exactly set the world on fire. But it would be nice for them to stand by their own work. Not everything can be a major hit and just because it didn't sell by the truckload it doesn't say anything about the quality of the music.
I think also there may be some negative connotations associated with that album from the band members, what with AK's addiction issues and the problems they had recording the record (didn't they suffer writers block around this time?).

Out of curiousity, which OHM tracks have been performed live by Frusciante/Klinghoffer?

Just Aeroplane by Klinghoffer. John did play a live outro to Pea that was never on the record but Dave came up with. That being said, Josh made the band practice My Friends for this tour so hopefully we'll hear it soon.

It's always surprised me they never performed My Friends live, especially seeing as they put it on the Greatest Hits.
Would be awesome if it became a staple on The Getaway tour setlists.

Plenty of times. 90% of the time they say "We don't feel emotionally connected with that album right now", if not ALL the time. However, the rest of the band are pretty much only doing it because Josh is forcing them, and its good to see they respect what he wants to play live too

My Friends and Walkabout were teased very briefly last tour in Josh's pre-UTB teases he did last tour as well. My Friends seems like its a chance to happen sometime this tour, with Aeroplane popping up every now and again. My user name would be the ultimate though, would love to see how AK would handle the screaming vocal at the end of the track and I think its a song well suited to Josh's playing style.

Flea still played Pea pretty often after that era ended but I don't know how he feels about the rest of the songs.
